Oti River Farmer Irrigation Pilot

A proposed solar-powered irrigation model intended to help smallholder farmers grow more reliably along the Oti River.

Why this work matters

Rain-fed farming leaves households exposed to increasingly uncertain seasons. Small, well-managed irrigation systems could support food production, income and more regenerative land use.

Our approach

How the work takes shape.

  1. 01

Small pilot plots with participating farmers

  2. 02

    Solar-powered water delivery

  3. 03

    Efficient irrigation and soil-cover practices

  4. 04

Learning, monitoring and adaptation before expansion

Project context

The concept prioritises practical systems that local farmers can understand and manage.

Women-led participation has been part of the proposed model.

Implementation depends on land, water, technical and funding agreements.

Evidence boundary

What readers should know.

Dream Village separates verified activity from proposals, earlier records and figures still being consolidated.

  • This is a developing proposal, not a completed irrigation project.
  • Farmer numbers, acreage and technology choices remain planning assumptions until implementation.
  • Environmental and community permissions must precede field work.
